Fernweh, is a word that came to the United States from Germany. There is no literal translation in English. It connotes a longing to see and experience faraway places with a deep urge to travel that is much stronger than wanderlust.
Fernweh is how I feel about globetrotting. By day, I am a dynamic education consultant with fifteen years of public speaking and presentation experience. By night, I help clients create and manage their brands, and somehow, I still find time to microblog about my travels traversing the nooks and crannies of the globe, immersing myself in new cultures, music, nature, and my never-ending quest to find obscure gastropubs. My name is Fernanda Meier, and I am an adventurer with a keen eye for detail.
Since transitioning out of my corporate job in education sales and account management nearly two years ago, I have been a freelance college access consultant while exploring the world as a digital nomad. Each day since has been another successful step in the journey to master the art of flexibility, and self-starting. Along the way, I narrate corporate training videos and digital platforms, thanks to my previous vocal and writing experience in internet and terrestrial radio and independent performance.
My professional experience in social work and education management is complemented by creative projects ranging from voicing educational PSAs to appearing in the comedic web series, Life with Jeannie. These projects and my bilingual fluency in Spanish and English have provided me with the advantage of reaching a multitude of audiences farther and faster.
It is thrilling for me to take on this new project as a travel blogger for Date Like a Woman. I can’t wait to share my personal travels and to help you achieve your travel goals!
