We’re officially one month away from my birthday! For years I barely celebrated it, being born two days before Christmas meant everyone was busy with the holidays, and my birthday always got blended into Christmas (including the gifts).
But in recent years, I decided to put myself first, because no one else was doing it. I started celebrating me, unapologetically. So yes, the birthday countdown begins now. I am accepting gifts, cash preferred.
I learned that no one was going to treat me better than I treat myself, so I started showing up for me. And if you’re anything like me, someone who’s been overlooked or neglected by loved ones for years, please don’t continue that pattern with yourself. Take care of you. Celebrate you. When you love yourself, everything else truly starts to fall into place.
