Good Morning World!!
“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.” – Alice Walker
If you’ve been following my social media pages over the last few days, you probably know that I had a black trump-supporting YouTuber’s video removed for using a clip from my show, Chaos & Controversy with Kai, without permission. Afterward, I made a video explaining why I filed the copyright claim and sharing my thoughts on his content. In response, he announced that he was leaving YouTube and then shared my post on Twitter informing him that I had his video removed. What I find amusing is that, like many people who believe they have more power than you, he seems to think he can bully his way through the situation. What he still doesn’t seem to understand is that despite my smaller platform, I had the power to get his video removed because it contained my copyrighted content. More importantly, I’m not a pushover. Sending racist trolls to my pages won’t stop me from protecting my work. It won’t stop me from speaking out against anti-Black messaging. And it certainly won’t intimidate me into silence.
At the end of the day, some people only learn lessons the hard way. And sometimes, you’ve got to be the teacher.
Happy Tuesday!
~ Kai
