Good Morning World!!

“At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can.” – Frida Kahlo

One year ago today, my mom fell and broke her knee and wrist. That day marked the beginning of an incredibly difficult period for her and for our family. She couldn’t walk and needed surgery, and suddenly there were so many unknowns. Would she be able to walk again? Would she recover enough for us to travel? Would we even be able to take the family vacation we had planned for the winter? It completely rocked my world. I found myself having to make major medical decisions with very little time to process them, including the decision to bring my mom home rather than place her in a nursing facility two hours away. At the same time, I was also dealing with my daughter’s health issues. There were moments when it felt like my entire world was upside down and everyone I loved was depending on me. I remember telling myself, “I can’t die. My mom and my daughter need me.” So I kept going.

And now, a year later, things are so much better. We made it through. We even made it on that family vacation. And my mom is walking around like she never fell in the first place. That experience taught me something I’ll never forget: you can get through incredibly difficult things, even when it feels like absolute hell. You don’t have to figure everything out at once. Sometimes you just have to take it one day at a time. Then another day. And another. So if you’re going through something extraordinarily difficult right now, keep going. Take it one day at a time. You may not be able to see the other side yet, but eventually, you’ll get there.

Happy Tuesday!
