Good Morning World!!
“People of color have a constant frustration of not being represented, or being misrepresented, and these images go around the world.” – Spike Lee
There is nothing more frustrating as a Black woman than watching others, who lack the education, experience, and qualifications we have, effortlessly access power and resources. Time and time again, we see mediocrity rewarded while we are forced to work twice as hard just to get a fraction of the same opportunities. And when we finally break through and claim our rightful place, our accomplishments are questioned, our intelligence is undermined, and we are met with the condescending assumption that we didn’t earn our success, but that it was somehow handed to us.
No one works harder or is more deserving than Black women. We battle racism and sexism daily, yet we continue to excel, innovate, and uplift those around us. Despite the challenges, I take pride in seeing how Black women are standing together, refusing to tolerate disrespect, from society, from Black men who fail to support us, and from white women who benefit from our struggle while rarely standing beside us in it. Still, even with that progress, I can’t deny that there are days when I feel overwhelmed by the sheer weight of the world and the relentless hurdles placed in our paths.
But despite it all, we are still here. We are still winning. We are still breaking barriers, redefining success, and proving time and time again that we are unstoppable. And that alone is enough to keep me pushing forward.
Happy Tuesday!
