Taraji P. Henson announced on Instagram today her engagement to her boyfriend of two years, former football cornerback, Kelvin Hayden. Of course, the big deal is that he is younger by 13 years; he is 34 and she is 47.
Here’s the Date Like A Woman take. As a woman you should date men you are compatible with, regardless of age. The fact that so many women refuse to date younger men means that they are limiting their eligible dating pool.
While it has always been socially acceptable for women to date older men there is still some sort of hang up when women date younger men. Blame it on sexism. But, in your quest to have a better dating life you need to allow yourself to be open. Spend time with men who make you smile, not men who meet some arbitrary checklist.
Taraji is happy, and honestly more women need to be open to being happy, even if that means dating a man who just happens to be younger.
