This weekend I’m officially getting my first taste of an empty nest. My child is now a legal adult and she’s off on a two week trip with her friends. Honestly, it feels like a little preview of what it’ll be like when she eventually leaves for college. Watching your child grow up is such a strange experience. One day they need you for everything, and then one day they don’t. They still need you, of course, just in different ways. Not for the everyday things that once filled your life. I guess it’s time to start thinking about what I want this next chapter of my life to look like. Before I know it, I’ll probably be a full-time empty nester. For now, though, I get a two week test run.
