What is electronic courage you may ask? Well, electronic courage is the confidence people gain when they say things online that they don’t have the guts to say in person. You see this a lot with racist people who say racist things online but won’t say the same things in person.

Electronic courage is pretty rampant in our information age; being able to hide behind a computer screen gives a certain level of protection from someone else’s reactions to what you say. But, what most people do not notice is that electronic courage is also killing dating. Why? Because people only feel confident enough to talk to someone they are attracted to behind a screen instead of in person.

Both men and women are doing this. This is why online dating is more the norm rather than the exception now. And, even though online dating doesn’t work well for women, women continue to use it because it’s much easier and comfortable to scroll through your matches or inbox than it is to speak face to face with a stranger.

It is understandable of course. It’s much easier to take rejection in the privacy of your own home. The problem though is that talking through a screen does not give you the opportunity to actually know who you are talking to. This is why so many people are disappointed when they finally meet in person. They have been talking to an online representative, not the actual person.

Do you want a better dating life?? Then go outside and meet someone new. Stop being afraid of rejection. Be brave! Get some real life courage. Talk to someone, in person!
